Chinese Government Friendship Award Winner Brings Insights to UCASS

2025-03-18

On the morning of November 27, the 78th Session of the Global Insight Series was held at the Duxue Lecture Hall of the Liangxiang Campus Library at UCASS. The event featured a keynote lecture titling Need for Course Correction by Kostas Gouliamos, Honorary Professor at UCASS, recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award, and former Rector of European University Cyprus.

During his lecture, Professor Gouliamos emphasized the necessity of the European Union to consider China as a reliable partner in forging a shared future and fostering peaceful coexistence. Given the deepening globalization and growing complexities in the international landscape, he underscored the heightened importance of China-EU relations. While acknowledging the EU’s multifaceted challenges in economic, political, and social dimensions, he highlighted that cooperation between China and the EU—as two major global economies and key stakeholders in the international order—remains vital to global peace and prosperity.

Following the lecture, Cui Weihang, Secretary of the UCASS Party Committee, presented Professor Gouliamos with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his insightful contribution to UCASS faculty and students. The event not only deepened attendees’ understanding of Professor Gouliamos’ contributions but also inspired young scholars to actively push for greater exchanges and cooperation between China and Europe.
