MILESTONES

In June 1955 

the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Chinese Acad emy of Sciences was instituted.

In May 1977

the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was founded replacing the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

In October 1978 

the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was set up as one of the precedents of graduate education in humanities and social sciences in China.

In May 2017

the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was established on the basis of the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

▲In 1979, Professor Lv Shuxiang, famous Chinese linguist, Academician and Director-General of Institute of Linguistics, CASS, gave an academic report at Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

▲In 1981, Professor Xu Dixin, famous Chinese theoretical economist, the Vice President of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Director-General of Institute of Economics, CASS, lectured at Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

▲In 1982, the Grade 1978 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Awarding Ceremony was held.

▲In 1990, the state leaders Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin met with Professor Hu Sheng, the President of CASS and GSCASS and Member of the Drafting Committee of The Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of People’s Republic of China.

▲In 2003, the Chinese President Hu Jintao met with Professor Li Lin, the Director-General of Institute of Law, CASS and Head of Law Department of GSCASS. Professor Li Lin later gave a special lecture to members of the 16th Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
